Oh my heart. This is a message I received from a 13 year old who has been attending Teen Academy. I'm not a crier, but this one pushed me to the edge.
"Our last lesson you really encouraged me to try something new, to believe in myself and do better. So the week after your lesson I started swimming laps at my pool. At first I couldn’t even make it 1 lap without stopping... and get this, I wanted to make it on the swim team.
2 weeks later I could do 6 laps without stopping and so I decided to try out.
The next day I was absolutely terrified! I had no idea weather I was going to make it or not and I was scared that I wasn’t good enough or fast enough, and then I remembered what you said, I had to believe in myself to make the team.
Later that day I got there, and long story short... I definitely made it!
The next day was my first day on the team and I was more excited than I could possibly tell you. I got there and the coach told us to do 16 laps without stopping at least 7 times. To be completely honest with you I was ready to go home and quit, but then I remembered you. You helped me get through that hard time where I wasn’t sure that I was enough.
Now... I can do 56 laps without stopping and I am sure I’m going to get better. I just wanted to thank you for all that you’ve done for me and for helping me achieve my goals and realize, I’m enough!"
Yes my friend, yes. You are enough!
