The Pharisees were too obsessed with tradition and obedience. They seem to have forgotten that both are means to become closer to the Lord. The Spirit is our best shot at improving and purifying our lives. I don’t know if I’ve ever met someone who was ridiculed or bullied into repentance or righteousness. Kindness and love are our most persuasive and powerful tools.
