Notice that the 5 foolish virgins took oil in their lamps, and the 5 wise virgins took oil in their vessels and their lamps. If we think of the lamp as our public spirituality and the vessel as our private spirituality we see that being outwardly spiritual is not enough. The strength to sustain us until the Lord’s return comes from private worship. The scripture study, prayer, service, temple attendance, and many other choices which nobody else knows about. Perhaps it’s time to break up with the things of this world and seek for something better.
