I've been thinking a lot about this talk since I heard about Robin Williams. Our friends and family that have to deal with depression, anxiety, and the host of other mental health problems need to be taken seriously. They need our help. They need our full attention and love. We can't ask or expect them to fix this problem on their own. We can't ask them to heal their own mind because their mind is the very thing that torments them day and night. The pain must be heartbreaking. They don't get to rest from it. Put your arms around them, sit with them, and let them know you don't think they are crazy or that it is all in their head. Be patient with them. Make sure they see the best doctors and counselors you can find. Most of all, tell them you will never give up on them. If they had cancer, diabetes, or any other illness you would be there for them and this is no different. My friends, let's act instead of being shocked by tragedy again and again.

Broken minds can be healed
