It is crucial that we remember our absolute dependence on the Savior’s merits, mercy, and grace. For earthly things we can be self-reliant, but for eternal things we must be Savior-reliant. Mercy is only mercy if you don’t deserve it. The moment you earn mercy it is no longer mercy, it is justice.

He is mighty, not wimpy to save. He’s very good at what He does. He doesn’t ask for perfection, He asks for repentance. If you could do it all you wouldn’t need a Savior. You will be saved, not because of your righteousness, but because of the righteousness of your Redeemer.

Look to Him. Rely on Him. He will carry you and take you home.
