Self Deprecation is Not Humility
Be cautious of believing anyone who makes you feel that you are too complex, too difficult, or too damaged to love. Of course we should all want to become better and work to achieve our goals, but someone who criticizes your every move is likely projecting how they feel about themselves on to you. It’s not wise or humbling to hurl insults on yourself or anyone else. Don’t magnify your own or others’ flaws. Self deprecation is not humility. Seeing what’s wrong with someone is not intelligence. Humility is thinking of others, encouraging them, and being happy for your own and others’ success.
