Fight Nicely

There must be a lot of fires in our house... I'm putting a copy of this up in every room.

Some friends of ours use a term in their house that we've adopted: "Fight Nicely." They've tried to teach their children that it is okay to be frustrated and angry, but you still have boundaries. Fighting nicely means you can use appropriate words, looks, and use your feet to leave the room, but you can't use insults, names, unwanted physical contact, or destroying personal property. It is has been fun in our house to hear my kids say, "I'm going to tell Dad!" and the other one responds, "He'll just say "Fight nicely." See Less
