I wish I could find the right words to accurately describe the inspiration of last night as I was privileged to be the emcee at the Miss Utah Wheelchair Pageant. My beautiful date (my 12 year old daughter) and I have spent today telling the rest of our family about real heroism. I've never been in a room so full of unconquerable spirits. Some of these incredible women and girls have been in wheelchairs their entire lives while others lost their ability to walk at an unforeseen moment. I was moved to tears over and over as they described their challenges. But it was even more inspiring to listen to them describe their future plans and goals. In those chairs were CEO's, concert musicians, athletes, school teachers, and even a blind and deaf Physicians Assistant. They see their disability as an opportunity. They say, "Where there's a wheel, there's a way." To all 16 women I met last night, thank you for teaching me and my daughter about determination, about kindness, and about real happiness.
