Be the one who builds

My friend Hilary Weeks once gave a life changing thought. She said, "Don't worry what others think about you. Worry about what others think about themselves when they're with you."

As we say our evening prayers, as we return and report what we've created each day, can we tell God we have built others up, and in so doing, built His kingdom? I hope I can help others feel good about themselves. I hope the people I interact with, especially those in my own home, think to themselves, "I like him. I always feel better about myself when he is around." The best part is that kind of goal will bless me as much as it blesses them.

Please know that each person you attack with words or gossip or judgment is someone's friend, child, or parent. Even if you feel they don't deserve it, be kind. Be kind, if not for them, for those who love them.
