It’s pretty easy to attack people from the past, they aren’t here to defend themselves. Instead of judging them, humility directs us to acknowledge we only have pieces of information, we don’t fully understand the times in which they lived, and some questions won’t be answered until we can ask the people themselves. We are not their judge. Let’s give them the benefit of the doubt. Let’s be as merciful with them as we hope others will be with us.
